is it best to shave / wax or leave pubic and if i do shave what about sunburn down there?

pubic hair is a cultural thing. depends on where you live and what ethnic background you have. it seems that the average is that if pubic hair is heavy, then a trim would be of benefit but just let the girls do what they are comfortable with.

Just curious but, when you say "new to this whole 'nudism' thing", have you all been practicing 'nudism' in your home while the children were younger? My experience has been that children who have been brought up as naturalist would adopt what ever they have been exposed to, as in what your "fashion" is...

Well sfletching I would have to say let the girls do what feels more comfortable to them. Maybe you could let them see some pics from a nudist site with a picture gallery that shows the wide variety of pubic hair styles ranging from untouched to smooth. That way they can see that whichever way the choose they will not be alone in their style. As for sunscreen I would advise that they aply it to their entire body, what ever they deside to with their pubic hair. The amount of hair makes no difference, you can get a sunburn on your head if you aren't carfull and look how much hair you have there. So better safe than sorry I say, it would be better for them to have the memory of their first time at a nudist resort be a pleasent one insteed of being a unpleasent one don't you think. So go and have a great time and stop worrying.

Good advice from newnudist. There really is NO "fashionable thing" to do with one's pubic hair, despite what some might say (there are people who think it's indecent, others who seem to think that you aren't really a nudist unless you shave your genitals). What's right is whatever you're happy with when you stand naked in front of the mirror.

The reason given by many for genital shaving is "because it makes it stand out more!" Poppycock! Complete misfire! The reason you have pubic hair is precisely to bring attention to the genital region.

Nature has no misgivings. She is aware that the most important function in any life-form is reproduction. Dammit, I should know!

Most of you will have had pets or farmstock. Most of them are covered in fur. Have you ever really looked at the genital regions? In most cases they are bald. That is because Nature wants the genitals to stand out. Therefore, being the only parts without hair, they attract attention.

By apposite logic, because the human is largely hairfree, Nature has ensured the genitals get the attention by putting hair there. There are subsidiary patches of hair, for example, the male chest, to give an impression of superior strength for mating stock. But the premise is the same.

So the concern shown by the topic-starter sfletching is a genuine fear of sexual innuendo in nudism.

So carry on shaving. It is a true naturist activity because it takes the emphasis away from sex.

I don't entirely agree with you on this one, Will.

Yes, some authorities do claim that pubic hair serves as a visual cue, saying that the person is sexually mature (more or less), and here's the spot. It's similar to the idea that the areola helps the infant find the nipple.

Other ideas include cushioning during intercourse (I don't really think it helps all that much), or to help trap scents that may be sexually alluring, just as underarm hair supposedly does. Yeah, these ideas do make the visual cue seem more likely. Or at least, a lot more pleasant.

Still, nobody really knows. Just as we alter the hair on other parts of the body, though, some people enjoy trimming or shaving or dying the pubic hair. Personal choice. Which takes me back to the original point of this thread. If a nudist, whether adult or teenager, feels more comfortable in his or her own circle leaving the pubic hair as it grows naturally, then that's the best choice for that person. Or if they want variety, that should also be up to them. But while there might be a style that's "fashionable" at the time, that fashion can change, and the girls should just do as they feel fit.

I personally hope that they'll feel comfortable accepting their bodies as they are.
